Captain Ryan “Minty” Mintalar is a Physician Assistant for the 60th OMRS at Travis AFB, California. He oversees personnel to be medically ready Airmen. He was previously enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Communications Specialist, and after he separated from the military in 2007, he used his GI bill for his Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. He has worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and Critical Care Transport as a Registered Nurse for 4 years prior to starting the Physician Assistant Program at Samuel Merritt University in California in 2016. In 2017, he was commissioned through the Air Force Health Professions Scholarship Program. In 2018-2019, he was awarded his Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies degree and completed Officer Training School. He attained his Doctor of Medical Science Degree through Lynchburg University in 2021.
He wants to be a strong advocate to advance the PA profession both in the military and civilian sectors. He is an active participant with the Defense Institute for Medical Operations (DIMO) and the International Health Specialist (IHS) program. He has deployed with the Marines and Air Force in support of OPERATION LIFELINE, ENDURING FREEDOM, and RESOLUTE SENTINEL 22.
